Video Games + Coding = Summer Fun

Updated: Aug 10, 2022

It was video games and coding for Week 3 of summer camp at River City Youth Foundation. During our GamerNation week, students learned how to code their own video games, from dance party themes to sports entertainment. They also learned about the many careers that are in high demand in the video game industry, especially here in ATX.

As a reward for their hard work, campers were treated to several field trips and swim outings. One of our field trips was to the UT VisLab where students learned about supercomputing and the important role of data visualization in solving some of the world's biggest climate and medical challenges. It was an awesome experience to witness one of the world's largest computer screens and to talk with some of the scientists and researchers doing incredible work!

See all the coding action for the week here.

Oh, and for three students who won the coding contest, they got a BIG surprise trip to Kalahari Waterpark :)

Many thanks to our supporters for a great coding week and to TACC for an awesome field trip!
